SJW Group, a Delaware corporation, was originally formed in 1985 as a California corporation with the name "SJW Corp.", and changed its name to "SJW Group" in 2016. SJW Group operates as a holding company with the following subsidiaries: San Jose Water Company, a water utility with both regulated and non-regulated businesses; SJW Land Company, which owns commercial buildings and undeveloped land, SJWTX Inc., a water utility, and Texas Water Alliance Limited, a Texas corporation.
San Jose Water Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJW Group, was originally incorporated under the laws of the State of California in 1866. San Jose Water Company is a public utility in the business of providing water service to a population of approximately one million people in an area comprising about 138 square miles in the metropolitan San Jose area.
SJW Land Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJW Group, was incorporated in 1985. SJW Land Company owns undeveloped land in the states of California and Tennessee, owns and operates commercial buildings in the states of California and Tennessee, and has a 70% limited partnership interest in a three-story office building located near the SAP Center in downtown San Jose.
SJWTX, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SJW Group, was incorporated in the State of Texas in 2005. SJWTX, Inc. is doing business as Canyon Lake Water Service Company (CLWSC). CLWSC is a public utility in the business of providing water service to a population of approximately 39,000 people through approximately 13,000 service connections in a service area comprising about 244 square miles around Canyon Lake in western Comal County and southern Blanco County located between Austin and San Antonio, Texas. SJWTX, Inc. also has a 25% interest in Acequia Water Supply Corporation.
The stock of SJW Group is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SJW.
